University Swimming Pool Notice
The University Swimming Pool will reopen on 11 May 2026 (Monday).
Starting from 3 November 2025, weekly cleaning will be changed to Friday morning (10:00am – 3:00pm).
Located on the central campus, the University Swimming Pool is open to students, staff, alumni, etc. The opening hours, fees, and usage details can be found below:
- Issuance and renewal of swimming cards will commence on 20 April 2026, application and renewal of swimming cards can be done by online application. CU Link Card holders are NOT required to apply for swimming card.

- Successful applicants can present a QR code (either on a mobile device or a print-out) for entering the pool.
- Resident smartcard holders can present their resident card instead of the admission card (for family members of staff) to enter the swimming pool with the fee applied.

Important Notice: Public Holiday Closures
The Swimming Pool will be closed on the following Public Holidays in 2026:
– 25 May (Monday): The day following the Birthday of the Buddha
– 19 June (Friday): Tuen Ng Festival
– 1 July (Wednesday): Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day
– 26 September (Saturday): The day following the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival
– 1 October (Thursday): National Day
– 19 October (Monday): The day following Chung Yeung Festival
Special Arrangement for Mid-Autumn Festival
25 September (Friday): Session 2 will be closed. The pool will be closed from 13:30 on that day.

Admission fees are payable only with an Octopus Card.
Note: No Octopus top-up service is available at the pool entrance. Please ensure your card has a sufficient balance.

Facilities & Amenities
– Unheated Pool
– Separate male and female changing rooms and hot showers are available, equipped with hair dryers and water dispensers.
Lockers are available:
– Bring your own padlock for the key-lock lockers, or
– Use the coin-operated lockers (HK$10 coin required).
– Lockers are for same-day use only. Please clear all personal belongings before leaving.

How to Get There
From University MTR Station, take University Shuttle Bus Route 1A and alight at the University Administration Building stop. After getting off, walk towards the Benjamin Franklin Centre(BFC). Take the stairs or lift to UG level. The entire journey takes approximately 5 minutes.
Remarks
The University Shuttle Bus is available for CUHK students and staff only. Visitors and guests are requested to arrange their own transportation or take the paid shuttle light bus to the swimming pool. For details, please refer to the Transport Office website: https://transport.cuhk.edu.hk/
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
- Q: Do I need to make a reservation for the swimming pool?
A: No reservation is required. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis (Maximum capacity: 330 persons). However, please check the Pool Booking Schedule before your visit, as the entire pool or part of it may be closed during certain sessions for student activities, lessons, or team training. - Q: Do part-time students need to apply for a swimming pool admission card?
A: No. If you hold a valid CU Link Card, no additional swimming pool admission card is required. However, the relevant entrance fee still applies. Q: Is it mandatory to wear a swimming cap?
A: Swimming caps are not mandatory, but they are recommended for hygiene purposes, especially for those with long hair.Q: Are shower gel or hair dryers provided in the changing rooms?
A: We provide hot showers and hair dryers. However, please bring your own toiletries and towels.
