Wellness and Counselling Centre (WACC) of the Office of Student Affairs is dedicated to promoting mental wellness and has launched the “Walk with You” Suicide Prevention Campaign in 2025. This initiative aims to take a proactive and systematic approach to suicide prevention, helping students manage stress, build resilience, and nurture self-care and self-seeking behaviour. We now sincerely invite you to participate in the following activities.
1. QPR Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention
As part of the “Walk with You” Suicide Prevention Campaign, we invite all full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students to join the QPR Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention—a globally recognized, certified programme developed by the QPR Institute.
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer—the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. A gatekeeper is anyone who can recognize a crisis and identify the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. Everyone can have the power to save a life by acting as a gatekeeper–including YOU.

2. Life Education and Bereavement Care Groups
At different stages of life, challenges and difficulties are inevitable. University students, who are in a critical period of growth and transition, face unique pressures—including academic stress, identity development, changes in interpersonal relationships, and sometimes the loss of loved ones.
To meet these needs, the Life Education and Bereavement Care Groups aim to promote students’ overall mental health and resilience through experiential learning, peer support, and reflective practice.
(a) Growing with Care – Self-Compassion and Horticultural Therapy Group
Life is like five flavors – sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, and salty—we taste them all. But how do we navigate these varied flavors of life? Let’s create a space to breathe—a chance to “pause, take a deep breath, and slow ourselves down.” Through horticulture and mindful self-compassion activities, we’ll learn to embrace life as it is—where sweetness coexists with bitterness, and every flavor has its place.
(b) You Are Still in My Heart – Grief and Bereavement Care Therapeutic Group
“Grief” (悲)—Losing someone we love is never what we wished for. And yet, “you” remain in my heart—I miss you still, and long for you always. “Five flavors, Five Messages of Life.” (人生五味,五道人生) Facing grief is never easy, but you don’t have to go through it alone. We will walk this journey with you, side by side.
