In spring, flowers bloom on the CUHK campus. Organised by the Student Experience and Development Section of the Office of Student Affairs, Blossoms in March — A Flourishing CUHK Campus has been concluded successfully.

The kick-off event for Blossoms in March was a music concert and was successfully held in the Chung Chi College Chapel on 12 March 2025. The event attracted about 300 staff and students from CUHK and CUHK Shenzhen. More than 20 beautiful songs were performed by current CUHK students, teachers, and alumni singers with their music groups.

The concert began with Prof. Roger Chung from the School of Public Health and Primary Care, accompanied by pianist Jezrael Lucero. They captivated the audiences with beautiful original songs and jazz performances. Followed by the talented CUHK students – Ricky Chan (Year 5) from the Department of History, Arlette Chan from the School of Nursing (Year 2), and Sophia Wong from the Hospitality and Real Estate Programme (Year 1), who brought their passion to life on stage at the concert. Alumnus Kessay Chan and his team, Wai Sing Music, delighted everyone with a refreshing A cappella performance. Another alumna from Department of Music, Winky Wong, a member of the girl group Beanies and her teammate, Jamie Cheng, livened up the atmosphere. Alumnus Lagchun, a former secondary school teacher, encouraged everyone with his original songs. Alumna Tse Ngayi, who performed her award-winning theme song for the movie The Lyricist Wannabe and moved everyone with her angelic voice. The final performance reached its climax with alumnus Mau Hou Cheong (No. 6) and his popular band Rubberband, ending the concert with perfection! All the above-mentioned CUHKers expressed their great honour and how magical and unique when performing in the Chapel, especially for the alumni. The event brought back many fond memories of their time at CUHK. Students had a relaxing and enjoyable time at the concert, which connected alumni and current students of different generations, making the evening warm and touching.

There were also small-group activities in the Blossom series. Prof. Paul But, a former professor from the Department of Biology, led a guided tour, “Lake Ad Excellentiam – Its Flora and Cultural Heritage”. He shared the history of Lake Ad Excellentiam, highlighting the transformation from farmland to part of the campus. In the “Forest Therapy Workshop” Forest Therapy guide Sun Chan, CUHK alumnus, introduced using the five senses to foster a deeper connection with nature. Yoga instructor, Vicky Hui, conducted a yoga session with students in the newly established Lee Hysan Atrium of Lo Kwee Seong Pavilion of the Art Museum. Participants were able to practice stretching exercises in the serene environment of the campus. Volunteers from The Independent Learning Centre and the Department of Chinese Language and Literature showcased theme-related poetry around the campus in “Poem in Campus”.
