Learning Enhancement Programmes

University is an exciting and challenging environment in which students continually develop new knowledge, understanding and skills. Through individual guidance and consultation, as well as adjustment and developmental programmes, the Learning Enhancement Service aims to enhance students’ adjustment to the learning environment of CUHK and ultimately help them develop as confident and independent learners.

Individual Guidance and Consultation

Individual guidance and consultation service is offered by a team of Learning Enhancement Officers (LEOs). All full-time students are welcome to approach the LEOs when they want to talk about their learning at CUHK. The LEOs will seek to provide support to these students. If deemed appropriate, the LEOs will collaborate with academic advisors and other relevant units to offer assistance to students in both academic-related and non-academic matters. Noting that non-local students’ adjustment to the new environment could be more challenging, LEOs proactively reach out to new non-local undergraduate students, listen to their study expectations and monitor their learning and adjustment progress. Follow-up service is also available for upper year non-local undergraduate students on need basis.

As for full-time postgraduate students, the LEOs run a regular drop-in consultation service during term time for them to meet with the LEO face-to-face to discuss anything about study and answer questions.

Adjustment and Developmental Programmes

With a view to helping students to adjust to and benefit from the CUHK learning environment, a range of adjustment and developmental programmes are organised for learning enhancement purpose.

  • Academic success traning series
  • Afternoon tea with LEOs
  • Beyond success talk series
  • Hong Kong explorer series
  • Sharing sessions and information talks
