Two Students Elected to University Council – Boosting University–Student Communications

The results of the Election of Full-time Student Members to the Council were announced on 12 February 2026. One undergraduate and one postgraduate student were successfully elected from among CUHK’s full-time students. This is exciting news marking the first year that both positions have been filled and strengthening communications between the University and students in support of long-term governance and major policy development.

The Election of Full-time Student Members to the Council is held annually to give students a direct voice in the University’s highest governing body. This year, two undergraduates competed for the seat, with Mr. Wang Lianghong elected. Meanwhile, Mr. Wang Geyang (PhD in Information Engineering, Year 4) secured re-election for the postgraduate position. The newly elected student council members’ terms will last for one year.

Two undergraduate candidates, Mr. Tsang Tsz Hin (Left, BSc in Public Health, Year 3) and Mr. Wang Lianghong (Right, BSSc in Data Science and Policy Studies, Year 2), outlined their political platforms at the “Meeting with Candidate” session.
