The examination season comes around the corner in April. To help students stay focused and relieve stress, the Peer Support Network (PSN) under the Wellness and Counselling Centre (WACC) of the Office of Student Affairs— comprising three teams, namely uBuddies Peer Counselling Network, uPals Wellness Promotion Team, and uShine SEN Service Team — jointly organised a series of examination support activities from 23 March to 16 April. These activities gave students warm support and encouragement from the campus community and their peers.
Meeting Therapy Dogs
uBuddies invited the Hong Kong Animal Assisted Therapy Association to bring two therapy dogs to the University Library. Students could not only interact with the on-duty volunteers but also relax through gently petting the therapy dogs.
PSN Flow with Us Study Room
The i-Lounge at the Yasumoto International Academic Park was transformed into a Study Space, providing students with a comfortable and supportive learning environment. The venue featured a quiet study area for focused revision, as well as a relaxation corner offering light snacks and beverages, helping students recharge and unwind during exam preparations.
The team also launched two featured activities during the period of the Flow with Us Study Room:
Sharing on Captivity and Meet the Animal Teacher
The team invited the Non-Profit Veterinary Services Society (NPV) to share with students the relationship between contemporary consumption patterns and animal rights. Therapy dogs rescued from breeding farms were also present, allowing students to interact with them up close and experience healing and care alongside their studies.
The Recharging Station with Cats
The Cat Room became a “recharging station” for many students. Spending time with the adorable cats during intense revision periods helped to regulate emotions and inject renewed energy.
Together, these activities created a warm and caring space amid the busy examination season, enabling students to relax both mentally and physically while building peer connections.
To further support students during the examination period, uPals and uBuddies set up Exam Cheering Stations at several key campus libraries. Cheering packs were distributed, offering timely encouragement and practical support.
uPals Exam Cheering Station
The exam cheering station was held at the University Library, Learning Garden (LG/F). Many students stopped by between revision sessions to collect the care packages, and the team also encouraged participants to write warm messages to cheer one another on.
uBuddies Exam Cheering station
uBuddies set up their exam cheering station at different college libraries – Madam S. H. Ho Library of Chung Chi College, Wu Chung Library of United College, and Ch’ien Mu Library of New Asia College. These locations allowed students from different colleges to experience care and support within their familiar study environments.
Through this series of meaningful service activities, the teams demonstrated a strong commitment and enthusiasm to promoting mental well-being on campus. Stay updated by following them on Instagram!
