The International Connection Programme (ICP) in the 2025/26 academic year was kicked off with an energizing training day camp in Sai Kung, where over 120 mentors and mentees came together for a day filled with meaningful connections, cross-cultural exchange, and global leadership development.
ICP, a peer mentoring programme making its debut in 2024/25, was positively received by students in its inaugural year. Building on that success, this year’s cohort includes 46 senior local students serving as mentors to support over 100 non-local mentees from 23 countries and regions, creating a truly global learning community.
To foster bonding and equip participants with practical skills, the day camp offered dynamic team-building activities that encouraged connection and collaboration, alongside an insightful workshop on cross-cultural communication and global leadership. Through these sessions, participants honed essential soft skills such as empathy, effective communication, and global perspectives – competencies that will empower them throughout the programme and beyond.
Ms. Elaine Tam, Director of the Office of Student Affairs, joined the event to welcome the cohort and share her encouragement. The two dedicated ICP Advisors, Dr. Bernard Wong and Dr. Jonathan Wong, also enriched the event by sharing their valuable experiences and practical insights on supporting mentorship and navigating cultural diversity.
In the coming year, the mentors will provide mentoring support to their mentees, while all participants will collaborate in teams to design and organize their own cultural activities to promote diverse cultures. We look forward to a year of friendships, growth, and unforgettable memories!
