From Connection to Exploration: ICP’s Cultural Tour in Yunnan

ICP’s Cultural Tour in Yunnan (3)

After a year of fostering cross-cultural connections and celebrating diversity, 20 outstanding mentors and mentees from the International Connection Programme (ICP) were invited to participate in a seven-day leadership and cultural immersion tour in Yunnan Province, Chinese Mainland. As one of the programme’s signature highlights, the tour provided participants with a unique opportunity to broaden their horizons through visits to three local universities, where they engaged in meaningful exchanges and dialogues with peers. Beyond campus visits, participants also explored Yunnan’s rich cultural heritage, gaining first-hand insights into its diverse ethnic traditions and history. The experience not only deepened their intercultural understanding but also strengthened their leadership skills and global perspectives.

Mentor Man Wing Sum spoke highly of the cultural tour, “The Yunnan Tour was a very rewarding cultural exchange experience. One of the most memorable parts of the tour was experiencing Yunnan’s rich traditional culture through activities such as DIY Jiama art and tie-dye workshops. These were completely new experiences for me and truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Above all, the tour enabled me to build new friendships, deepen my understanding of Chinese culture, and create many unforgettable memories.”

We look forward to creating more enriching experiences through the ICP in the year ahead. Recruitment for mentees of the 2026/27 cohort is now underway. Non-local Year 1 undergraduate students are warmly invited to seize this valuable opportunity to build lasting friendships, develop intercultural competencies, and enrich their university experience through this rewarding initiative.
