Bonds Across Generations: Cross-generational Integration Service Programme 2025-26
To foster dialogue and mutual understanding between youth and elders, the Student Experience and Development Section (SEDS) of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) launched the Cross-generational Integration Service Programme in the 2025–26 academic year. The programme includes a series of interactive activities and the flagship “University Experience Day for Elders.” Through hands-on planning and participation, students not only develop service skills but also build meaningful connections with elders through genuine interaction.

Flagship Event: University Experience Day for Elders
On 21 November 2025, 56 CUHK student volunteers and 38 elders from The Salvation Army Tai Po Multi-service Centre shared a morning of laughter and warmth on campus. Students acted as mentees, providing a campus tour to the elderly. They explored CUHK landmarks, including Lake Ad Excellentiam and the Pavilion of Harmony, creating memories amidst campus scenery. The closing ceremony was honoured by the presence of Ms. Elaine Tam, Director of the OSA, and Dr. Tommy Law, Head of SEDS of the OSA. The most touching moment came when the elders donned graduation caps and held their certificates, their eyes shining with pride and joy.

Beyond the University Experience Day for Elders, the programme offers a series of engaging activities, including the elderly centre visit, where students and elders made handicrafts and played group games together; and an excursion to Y Farm for Healthy Ageing, allowing participants to experience the joy of farming and collaborative cha gwo making. These activities were entirely planned and executed by the student team, offering hands-on learning in logistics, facilitation, and service leadership, equipping students with practical skills in organising community services.
